Darkened is my soul unprotected from your love

You whisper sweet promises up against my ear

A smile of betrayal lies across your smug face

You’ve deceived me

But for reasons unknown to me

Our love is too strong I just can’t seem to let you go

I try to force myself to walk away from the pain that I endure

But your hold is so strong and has lasted for too long

You comfort me in times of sorrow

But break my heart once I’m happy

My love is just never enough

So why can’t you just leave

and give me hope for a better tomorrow

Returning life back to my darkened soul
