She waits with anticipation for the next set of words to roll off his tongue

He struggles past the nervous giggle stuck to his throat

He gathers all the nerves he can find

Eventually he whispers

“I love you” through the line

He waits through the silence for her response

But he need not wait long for almost as soon as his words finish

She says loudly “I love you too”

 The slight desperation of a lovers wonder

Brings such splendor in the end

No more guessing or prolonging

You know without doubt you were meant for each other
