While I remain grateful for each breath
And appreciate the life I’ve been given
All I want is to
To take a deep breath without feeling any pain
To put on an overhead light and not get a migraine
To hear the words that were meant for me to hear
To walk the miles that I use to run so freely
To ride a bike like my father once taught me
To close my eyes and sleep like a baby for countless hours
To drive a car fearless of the metal that might again scar me
To sit and think not of all that ails me
To eat food, take a pill, smell a smell, walk on a rug and pet an animal free of the fear of an allergy attack
