I dared to take you into my heart
I couldn’t leave you weeping in the park on that cold Winters night
I gave you shelter
I filled your belly
I listened to all that ailed you while filling your belly and offering my sage advice
I watched you toss and turn, crying into the night, begging to be saved
And one day, just like that, you were gone
Where to?
I don’t know
But,
Sometimes I think I see you
Sometimes I think I hear you
Now,
I realize that maybe, just maybe, I need you or another like you
So I don’t feel lost and alone
