When Darkness Falls Upon Me

Sorrow bleeds me dry and leaves me breathless

My anguish confines me to these four walls

Where darkness has cast a nocturnal spell

Keeping me in its tightly held grasp

It baits me

Daring me to attempt departure

I have no plans to remain it’s prisoner

I break free of its hold

I breath deeply squeezing out a sigh

Finally

Freedom is completely mine

Sun bears down hard against my skin

The darkness spell has been lifted
