The Drive©

In the car and on the way to our destination
I’ve never felt such a calmness
The only sounds come from the songs on the radio
Each kept quiet by the anticipation of what will happen
What will we face when we meet our destination
This drive has us all waiting
With so many others ahead of us it feels as if our ride will never end
So we look to the changing foliage to keep our attention until
We reach our destination
This drive has taken too much of our time
Suddenly, the car comes to a stop and we see we’ve reached our destination
And find that all was worth the wait
