Nature swallowed 12 young boys ages 11-16 up whole in a monsoon along with their soccer coach. Filled with a tamed fear, securely in the bowels of the Tham Luang Nang Non cave in Chiang Rai province in Thailand. The life of a well trained Navy SEAL diver is taken but every life after that was spared. Science may play a small part in the success of their retrieval with well trained divers. But mother nature plays a bigger role in controlling the balance. She could push, or she could pull back the waves. The choice was hers. To our benefit, these young boys and their coach were indeed spared. Oxygen depletion, Immune system concerns, and hope slowly slipping away. Hope returns when experienced divers appear and everyone is slowly but surely lead to safety 18 days later. Now 7 days in the hospital under the care of a psychiatrist in a sterilized and well contained area these boys will stay to ensure that no disease ails them or ends up being shared unknowingly. The caves abilities are unknown to us. We can only hope that Mother nature helped these boys and their coach survive for a reason. May no ailments come from this tragic experience. May we learn to be grateful for every gift that nature allows us.
