Ever So Trusting©

For years I worked so hard

Never suspecting anything

 Always trusting

Willing to share

Never knowing what was ahead

 Those taking credit they didn’t earn

Leaving me creditless up ahead

Friend’s who cheat you of almost anything

Dare I stop to wonder what more they have stripped me of

Now I tread softly trusting almost no one

Never doubting the trust of a friend

Next time I’ll listen to the words of my truest friends

Trust must be earned in order to be given
