(Note to reader: I find a picture I like and write a poem about what I see. Hope you enjoy)
This is what I see…Felina Silver Robinson
* * * * * * * * *
For years you watched me
You teased me
Thinking you were better
Even while knowing
We are the same
Raised in the same way
Same place
At
The same time
For years
I wanted to be you
I wanted to be seen by you
Mostly I wanted to be heard by you
Now I find myself married to a prince
Who adores me
I sit in the window of my castle
Across the water I see you
Sitting in your chair
And I realize
That
My castle
Is bigger than yours
My prince is grander than yours
And
My smile is brighter than yours
I’m not here to brag
I’m not here to gloat
I just want to make sure you know
I still consider you my friend
I don’t measure by
What we have or where we live
You are my friend
Because you know my heart
Just like a sister should
I’m sorry that you are now watching me
Wanting to be me
As you sit alone peering out your window
My Castle is Bigger than Yours©
