Someone told me that they didn’t matter to anyone, that no one really cared. They said no one ever listens as they just sat there and stared. I was quiet for a moment not wanting to say just anything. In that moment all I could come up with was that I cared. I told them that I was listening and that they mattered to me. I took their hand in my hand and I pulled them close to me and said “isn’t it just amazing what a difference one simple hug 🤗 can make?” They laughed gently and cried hard. I didn’t care that they dampened my best shirt. The warmth of their happiness made my heart ❤️ beat faster and a smile came across my face that I was proud matched with theirs. It didn’t take much, just a few minutes and some trust, trust in yourself to be the answer someone else needed in their moment of crisis. Never turn your back on someone that feels worthless, for you must know it’s just them crying out for help hoping not to make a mistake that will only end in heartache for someone that cares.
