Beside Myself©

I’m a little beside myself

Until I can find myself

From underneath this shell

That I’ve used to protect myself

From the craziness that I’m living in

Each time I enter the room

I have to run for cover

So I don’t get hit in the midst of your thunder

I wish I could remember

A time when

I didn’t have to wonder

When the yelling would stop

And we could just enjoy one another

I miss the sunset along the beach

I miss the smile across your beautiful face

All I’ve had is your darkened soul

I know this can’t be your goal

Until your willing to change

I’ll keep being

Beside myself

Until I can find myself

From underneath this shell

I now know to be home
