Rain upon my window pane©

I wake to the sound of rain upon my window pane
The room darkened by the dawns early light
The house peaceful and cool
I lay there wondering of what lies ahead
Do I have the strength for the day ahead
My bones ache from the cool of the night
My head aches from a lack of sleep
I tell myself not to pay attention to the pain
I ponder the thought of baking
I ponder this very poem
My mind wanders to the running list in my head
My thoughts are of writing, cleaning, decorating, holiday menus, and gift shopping
I’m certain that others are now sharing my thoughts
I realize that there is no time to waste
And I must pick up the pace
Moving on to the things on my list
Starting with a hot cup of black decaf tea
Why don’t you come and join me
and we can sit and listen to the rain falling upon my window pane.
