What I wouldn’t give
To lay peacefully by your side
With nothing much to say
Other than to ask you of your day

Instead
There’s homework to help with
Forms to fill out for school
Lunches to be made for field trips
And Laundry to do so you can wear your favorite things

What I wouldn’t give
For a nice hot bubble bath
With the sounds of soft music in the background

Instead
The sound of a crying baby
A husband home late from work
Looking for something hot to eat
When all is done I lay too tired to say goodnight
I lay down my head with only dreams insight

What I wouldn’t give
For a family vacation right about now
