What details of your life could you pay more attention to?
I’m a wizard of worries, a master of tasks,
I juggle and juggle, with no need to ask.
I help and I soothe, I guide and I cheer,
But where, oh where, does my help appear?
I race through the day, with a swift little hop,
I spin like a top, never thinking to stop.
But sometimes, just sometimes, I forget to say,
“Dear me, are you okay? How’s your day?”
The laundry gets folded, the dishes get done,
I fix all the messes—oh what fun!
But when did I last—oh what a strange thought—
Take a moment to see what I truly sought?
A dance in the kitchen, a nap in the sun,
A laugh that just tickles, for no reason—just fun!
A book in the corner, a cookie, or two,
A pause in the chaos, to say “I’m here too!”
So tomorrow, I’ll try, with a wink and a grin,
To notice myself—and let joy begin.
For while others are treasured, it’s plain to see,
The heart of it all starts first with me
