If you had to choose two phrases to teach your children, what would they be?
Asked by Felina Silver
Teach them gently,
but teach them strong,
for the world will test
where they belong.
Give them words
that light the way,
anchors to hold
when skies turn gray.
Tell them: “I can.”
A whisper first,
a seed of courage,
to quench the thirst
for hope, for faith,
for dreams to fill—
Then teach them: “I will.”
A vow, a stride,
a promise made,
no fear can hide.
“I can” is the spark,
“I will” is the flame,
together they rise,
unchained, untamed.
And when they stand
in the storm’s deep chill,
they’ll say with pride:
“I can. I will.”

A Rhyme to teach your children
I Can and I Will
I can be strong,
I can be kind,
I can keep growing
my heart and my mind.
I will keep trying,
I will not quit,
I will keep shining—
that’s just it!
I can, I will,
each day, each way,
I can, I will,
come what may.
