In twilight’s gentle, silver glow,
Where years like rivers softly flow,
Two souls awake from slumber deep,
In hearts where ancient secrets keep.

No longer bound by youthful haste,
They seek the truth, not time to waste.
Through screens that flicker, lights that gleam,
They chase the pulse of a shared dream.

A dance of shadows, smiles, and chance,
A cosmic game, a mystic dance.
Ghosts of the past fall soft away,
As dawn invites a brand new day.

The language shifts, the swipes and texts,
Yet soul’s own voice is never vexed.
For love transcends the bounds of age,
A sacred script on life’s wide stage.

The pulse of youth, now tempered flame,
Still burns within—no two the same.
With wisdom’s eyes, the heart now sees
The hidden truths in mysteries.

Through tangled webs of digital light,
Where profiles gleam like stars at night,
A spark ignites beyond the screen,
Where souls converse, yet stay unseen.

Not bound by time, nor place, nor pace,
They seek the warmth of soft embrace.
A laugh, a glance, a whispered word,
The song of love, still to be heard.

With courage born of years well-trod,
They venture forth, though paths are odd—
For every stumble, every fall,
Is just a step toward love’s sweet call.

So swipe and scroll, but do not fear,
The heart’s true voice remains sincere.
For in this dance, both old and new,
The soul finds ways to be renewed.

And when the stars align just right,
Two spirits meet in shared delight—
Beyond the apps, beyond the screen,
In love’s own realm, serene, unseen.

So journey on, through moon and sun,
The quest for love is never done.
At sixty’s door, or beyond its gate,
The heart still holds the keys to fate.

Let’s face it—dating over 60 isn’t what it used to be… and maybe that’s not such a bad thing. These days, the landscape looks a lot different than candlelit dinners after chance encounters. Now, it’s dating apps, text etiquette, and figuring out if someone who says “looking for fun” actually means fun. But for those of us who’ve lived a little (okay, a lot), this new world of connection can still hold a lot of promise. In fact, with the right mindset—and maybe a good internet connection—it might just be one of the most exciting chapters yet. Here’s how I see it.

Q: How do you feel about today’s dating world for people over 60?

A: Well… it’s not quite like it was in the ’70s, that’s for sure! Back then, you met someone at a party, locked eyes over the potato salad, and the rest was history. Now? You need a profile, a decent selfie (in good lighting, no less), and apparently, knowing what “ghosting” means is essential.

But let’s be honest: dating after 60 comes with both perks and pitfalls. The good news is—we know ourselves better than ever. We’re not here to play games or chase fairy tales. We want connection, companionship, maybe even love—but most of all, we want real. We’ve earned that.

Still, navigating dating apps or deciphering emojis can feel like trying to learn a new language without a translator. It’s a strange world, full of swipe culture and “situationships,” but that doesn’t mean it’s not worth exploring.

My advice? Keep a sense of humor, stay open, and don’t let a few awkward coffee dates discourage you. Whether you’re looking for a soulmate, a travel buddy, or just someone to share Sunday morning coffee with—there’s no expiration date on connection.

Besides, we’re the generation that survived disco, dial-up internet, and shoulder pads—we can handle a dating app or two.

A Little Personal Note…

I dipped a toe into online dating not too long ago. Created a profile, added a picture (yes, I asked my niece to help with the lighting), and braced myself. The first message I got was from someone asking if I wanted to “Netflix and chill.” After a quick Google search, I politely declined.

But the second message turned into a coffee date, which turned into a two-hour conversation about travel, grandkids, and favorite books. We didn’t ride off into the sunset, but it reminded me: meaningful connection is still out there.

Thinking of Trying Online Dating? Here Are a Few Apps to Consider:

  • OurTime – Made specifically for people 50+, easy to navigate, and focused on real relationships.
  • SilverSingles – Great matching system and tailored for the over-50 crowd.
  • Match.com – One of the oldest dating platforms, and still popular with all age groups.
  • Facebook Dating – If you’re already on Facebook, this is a simple, low-pressure way to start.
  • Stitch – More about companionship and shared activities than romantic pressure—perfect for easing in.
