Write about a random act of kindness you’ve done for someone.
Each day, let kindness gently bloom,
In gestures small, with quiet room.
No coin need fall from hand or purse—
A smile, a word, can lift a curse.
For kindness, free as morning air,
Can mend a heart with just a care.
No wealth required, just time and grace—
A touch of light in every place.
One morning, beneath the soft hum of espresso machines
in our familiar corner café,
I saw a man weathered by unseen storms—
his shoes threadbare, whispering tales
of miles walked without comfort.
He sat tucked in a quiet corner,
his life packed tight in bags beside him,
eyes drifting like clouds—
searching, perhaps, for safety,
or something lost long ago.
Moved by something quiet in me,
I ordered warmth: a sandwich,
a simple cup of coffee.
When I placed them in his hands,
his smile broke like sunlight through overcast.
He thanked me more than once.
I only said, “It’s my pleasure”—
but what I meant was:
We’re all just hoping someone sees us.
It saddens me that our paths haven’t crossed since, though I can’t say if that’s a blessing or a loss. All I ever wished was to give him a moment’s joy—a fleeting reason to smile.
