What positive events have taken place in your life over the past year?

Being a mother and grandmother remains my proudest achievement of all. Your children and their children along with their strength and determination will bring us into the future. All that I’ve seen from each of them continues to bring me hope for what lies ahead.

Chairing the Indigenous Peoples Celebration Committee continues to be an honor as our committee impresses me along with the community as we branch out in the work we are willing to do.

Becoming the President of the League of Women Voters of Brookline as a woman of color, as well as Cherokee lineage, speaks volumes. I’m honored to work with countless dedicated individuals sharing in a dedication to advocacy empowering voters.

Allowing myself to heal and grow to break the shell of my traumatic past and forging ahead with a future I can be both proud of and live with gives me inspiration to work with others like me to achieve the same goal.

Through the work that I’ve come to love, I’ve made connections that would never have come my way had I not been a part of the work. When we wake up and decide to start living the way we were meant to, there is no stopping us. Our dreams are held firmly in our hands and our minds. We alone have the power to face, act on, and achieve our goals. Understanding this is my most powerful achievement this year.
