Do you have a favorite place you have visited? Where is it?
Growing up, I looked forward to the weekends we would drive to meet the ferry boarding for Martha’s Vineyard. In the ocean, blue wood-paneled station wagon my sister and I would be sitting in the third seat facing backward, making faces at all the drivers waving hello to those that we didn’t wanna make faces at while my brother slept in the second row seat always wanting to be closest to my mom.
Upon the ferry, we always had to be on top that way the wind was the closest to us blowing our hair like birds flying high above the clouds. We did not care how cold it was as long as the sun was hitting our faces getting snacks from the stands was always such a treat. So much to choose from. Watching the boat approaching the dock we then rushed to the car because we knew that we were only moments away from our favorite aunt and uncle.
Martha’s Vineyard is always full of vibrant lively colors and always at your feet never never-ending smiles upon every resident in visitor. So many places to visit, so much space to run, so much delicious food to eat, and pleasure to be found with every heartbeat. What could be better than a place such as this?
It has been years since my last visit. This summer once again I took that car right then that ferry right back into the never-ending happiness of my old friend Martha’s Vineyard.
