The Fear of Loneliness©

Being alone was even lonelier than she thought it would be. Each room is empty. No pets. No family, no friends. No tv or radio for sound affects. No birds chirping, car motors or couples arguing. Nothing but true, dead silence. Suddenly, she has a strong desire to scream at the top of her lungs just to hear sound bouncing off the walls. What was once silence, becomes noise. The front door is thrust open by an EMT checking to see if all is ok. She’s embarrassed to admit to her fear of loneliness. He gives off a laugh, not laughing at her but at the fact that he himself had done the very same thing last week.
