Photo: Bob Marley Watercolor by Fabrizio Cassetta
I might have
Gold plated teeth
Braided dreads
Low-riding baggy jeans
Michael Jordan Sneakers
and
Peering boxers
But I’m no gangster
The streets I walk
Force me to fit in
So I look the look
I walk the walk
And sometimes talk the talk
But in my heart I’m just a plain and simple man
With a one way plan
Living my dream
And filling it with a song
I’m No Gangster©

A note to readers: This poem isn’t about Bob Marley.
I used this photo as a symbol of judgment that is often passed down on people
Due to their appearance.
Bob Marley wrote:
“Who are you to judge the life I live?
I know I’m not perfect
-and I don’t live to be-
but before you start pointing fingers…
make sure you hands are clean!”
― Bob Marley
