I have loved many men

But I wonder

If any of those men truly loved me

I sacrificed my heart

Just to call them my own

I’ve given up my dreams

To help them follow their own

I’ve settled for less than I ever intended

For the promise of everlasting love

Is there even such a thing

Now hopefully with the man I always dreamed about

Some of my hopes can be realized

May he care for me the way I care for him

May I be able to sit back just a little

And for once in my life

Have someone take care of me

May my heart run a flutter

As it did when we first met
