My smile has run for cover
Because once again
You’ve left me here waiting
Without rhyme or reason
Our date has come and gone
The midnight hour has become six am
Your side of the bed remains untouched
No phone call or text message
Six pm comes along
You appear as if nothing was wrong
A smile upon your rugged face
No apology
No regret
I feel as if
I will become undone
Instead
I bite my tongue
Dinner is silent
We we head off to bed
As you lay sleeping
I pack
Then I’m gone
In search of my smile
Which I can no longer find here
