A trip to the park with kids in tow

I sit and read the book I’ve been reading throughout the year

In between

Conferences,

Household chores,

Doctors Visits,

Meetings,

Cooking Meals,

Classes,

and Writing

The kids laughing in the background with newfound friends

Bearing cheek to cheek smiles as they swoop down the slide

Oh what a feeling on this cool summers day

The breeze keeps me company and gently turns my pages

To my book that I no longer have interest in

I now find myself captivated by all the people before me

Who are walking aimlessly about

With no real purpose

With no agenda

And no time clock to punch

Just enjoying the pleasure of

the days Summer Breeze

I snap back into reality as my kids tug my dress

“It’s time to go now mommy, I’m hungry like a bear”

says the youngest one,

There’s no time to spare

We pack up everything

and hurry on our way

The Summer Breeze behind us

With memories tucked inside us

of a joyous summer’s day

Next time won’t you join us
