After You’ve Gone©

Years have passed
Since you last left
I’ve remained
In this big oversized chair
Because your spot next to me
On our bed remains empty
There are stains from my salted tears
My every wish and prayer has gone unanswered
There are no words that could comfort my broken heart
I seek no revenge
For it would be unbecoming
And beneath me
I don’t seek pity
For that would mean
I’m not worthy of your love
But today I’ve decided
That I must start over
I’ve sold the house
With all its belongings
And I’ve headed for someplace new
Where, I cannot tell you
Since our love is no more
In my heart I now know
That I can again find true love
