She stands in the doorway

Anticipating the thoughts of her eldest daughter

What will she want?

What will she need?

What will she ask for?

How will she plead?

She works so hard to bring all that she can

Each time she enters her three surround her

Singing, hi mommy, what did you bring me today?

Never without something to give

she puts out her hand filled with goodies

Within seconds they are bare

Everyone happy with no despair

All in her day of pleasing her trio

The smiles are worth more than any dollar

All happiness comes from the thought of being loved

Not from the gift received
