Lying on my back

On the plush freshly mowed lawn

Thinking of all that happened before my time

Under the old fruitful peach tree

In my grandmother’s backyard

Where all the townspeople come to gather

Beneath the old oak tree

Everyone shares their woes

Then they’re on the go

Hoping for answers when there’s nowhere else to go

They lend their ear to the Elders

Who take control of our sector

Doing things right just like they taught you

Sippin cider, hearing stories, and hoping to get answers to age-old questions

Hoping not to find out things that will lend to a sleepless night

Here amongst the elders in my grandmother’s backyard
