Walking down the street

I spy a woman in full conversation

As I get closer I realize she has no companion

There’s no bluetooth for her cell phone

So who does she speak to

There’s no one else around

Suddenly I realize it has to be her ‘imaginary friend’

She laughs

Then she’s clapping

Then sits down and cries

I stand their speechless

Not knowing if I should help

I take a chance and lean over

And ask if I can

She tells me her friend

Rebecca has fallen to her death

Of course there is no one before us

I ask her for her name

She replies “Becky”

I ask if Rebecca is her twin

She replies “no, she’s my alter ego”
