Countless time slipping away

One minute you were crawling

Then you were off to college

Now you’re getting married

And starting a family of your own

You make me see all that I missed

All that could have been

Now that your mother is gone

You’re leaving me alone

To face this big bad world

All on my own

Yes, the service changed me

I’m not who I use to be

I couldn’t be here when you needed me

I wasn’t there for your mother

But that wasn’t my choice

I had my orders

I wish I could make you understand

It doesn’t seem to matter

You’re on your way

Maybe in time you’ll need me
