Amber rays burn through the afternoon sky
The baby blue sky appears to be on fire
As the amber rays stretch across the crystal blue canvas
A gray smokey mist stomps across the sunset
Defusing the amber fire
I sit in my car so entranced by the view
There is a line of traffic backed up behind me
But no one is angry because everyone is enjoying the same view
Sunsets are our stolen moments of peace and tranquility
Note to my new readers: About my “Poem Bursts” – I give myself 30 seconds to one minute, and then write what comes to mind. This is a fun writing exercise I give myself to come up with something different from what I might usually write. I hope you enjoy the outcome
