I came into the world as one of your big surprises
You had no idea I was on my way
I literally dropped in to see you
In a hurry to go nowhere but a comfy bassinet
You loved me
You bathed me
You fed me
And when I was old enough
You scared me to death with those pantyhose over your face
Your nerve ending screams calling out your demands
Dusting, Cleaning, Washing, Shopping
I bet no one knew I was a twin of Cinderella
My friends existed in pictures and memories
My duties came first
Once done maybe some time for me
Molded by scoldings and beatings your way
True discipline there for all to see
Poise and Class
Vocabulary and knowledge
Give me a test, I’ll be ready tomorrow
No time for boys, not time for girls
Friends come and friends go
Education was surely first in line
All grown up now
But still fearing your ways
I love you
But leave you
For fear of being more like you
I wish I knew better of what to do
My message for now is that love is stronger
Than all that you do
I’m stronger now
and fear no one
My times my own, split between family and friends
No more flashes of your scary drama
Just my thoughts and memories of you
And a time almost forgotten
My mommy dearest, I’ll still be loving you
