As a child I looked up to you

Curious, full of hope and admiration

You showed me a side of myself

I wasn’t willing to share

Now that I’m older

Maybe they’ll understand me

The me inside that was sheltered

But has so much to say

I’m not like the majority

But I know there are more like me

My head is full of stories that I’d love to share with you

But how do I tell you

How do I share it

I feel as though I might lose a part of me

I’ll have to find a way to let it go

To give myself a chance

To offer up a little of myself

And the past that helped me through

Thank you for watching over me

And giving me someone to look up to

That helped me through both the good and the bad
