Your gentle touch
Your sweet sentiments whispered softly in my ear
Your warm kiss upon my waiting neck
Your sincere laughs at all my jokes
Your big hello as I open the door
Your patient kiss goodnight
These are the things I dare not live without
So now I walk to you fathers door
To ask him for your hand along with his blessings
I shake at the thought of his reply
I pray that he not doubt me
I pray that he trusts my love and intentions
There is no one else I’d rather share my life with
The door opens
He looks me over and over and up and down
Though not its visible I know I’m sweating
He laughs a big laugh and says I know what you’re doing
And just why you’re here
I’ve been sitting here waiting for the day that you’d come knocking at my door
He tells me that no man has ever made his daughter smile so and make her eyes shine they way that I do
I laugh for a moment and then say “god bless you”
And he says “you can just call me dad”
We sit and we laugh for hours
The door opens and there you stand
There I kneel placing my mothers ring on your finger
