Back in the Days of the Horse and Buggy
Children ran freely in the streets
On the surface all seemed to be OK
Long dresses with umbrellas
Wigs of all colors
Bodices and uncomfortable shoes
Every scene was like a picture
You did not see the problems
But they were there plain as day
You just had to look harder
The enslaved worked hard
The privileged danced freely all about
Today in this not so Simple Time and Place
People hustle about
Always in a hurry for places often unknown
The privileged speed about in expensive cars
Some even get their own TV show
Our young study hard to compete for jobs that may not be there when their done
So many people without jobs
Climate issues threaten our very survival
Athletes demand more pay
Healthcare for all has become a burden to all
So much to do with the threat of time running out
Oh how I wish for “A Simpler Time and Place”
Where all could be equal, happy and safe
