I’ll try my best not to forget you

Born with all of my faculties in place
All the world is before me
My mind is open ready to learn
I’m eager to take everything in
Days, weeks, months, years go by
My memories wander about my head
Full of things, both good and bad
I pray to hold on to thoughts that please me
Family, friends and all things that matter
Please stay with me and hold on tight
For when you leave me I will start to slip away
Piece by piece, I’ll no longer have a place
I’ll try my best not to forget you
I hope you’ll remember me when I’m gone
That your memories will carry on where my left off
Somewhere inside of me
I know my heart will carry your memory
