Smiles from their unknowing faces
They patiently pass the days
Waiting for their aging
Holding out for their independence
For their turn out in the world
Their hearts ready for the taking
Their innocence up for grabs
Our words bounce firmly from their ears
Their determination wins over our advice
Their mistakes will become the stepping-stones to their future
Our job is done for now
