One evening, my youngest daughter mentioned that she had gone to a wine tasting held every Tuesday at the new winery in Brookline Village. I couldn’t count how many times I’d walked past it, telling myself I’d stop in someday—but I never did. She generously poured me a glass from one of the bottles she had bought. I had no idea what kind of wine it was, but I knew I liked it—and that alone gave me even more reason to finally go check the place out for myself.

About two months later, after having lunch at Starbucks with my two youngest daughters, I decided it was finally time to stop in and support one of our new local businesses. Outside, enjoying the lovely afternoon, was the store manager, Kevin Lowenthal, who warmly welcomed us and let us know he was available if we had any questions. I told him I was a local just curious to see what they had to offer—and I was more than pleasantly surprised. Their selection of wine and spirits ranged from as low as $14 to, as Kevin put it, “the sky is the limit.” We left with a bottle of Silvio Meletti Liquore, Dom Diogo: Padeiro, and “Wine in the Present Tense” — a Sauvignon Blanc from Currently Wine Co., a label owned by my former neighbor Daniel Rodriguez. I have to admit, I was drawn to the bottle’s design and how lightweight it was—but it didn’t hurt that I also happen to love Sauvignon Blanc. Upon tasting it, I knew I had made the right choice.

I highly recommend stopping by on Tuesdays for their wine tastings. They also offer a wine club featuring their private label selections, and by joining, you’ll gain access to exclusive first-come, first-served discounts.
